Getting Started with Treatment

The Gatekeeper provides screening and placement referrals for substance abuse treatment either in person or by phone.

There are four Gatekeeper locations available for in-person screenings on a first come, first-served basis during regular business hours:

• Kern County Department of Human Services: 100 E. California Ave. Bakersfield CA 93307 at Window R8.
• Kern County Superior Court: 1415 Truxtun Ave. Bakersfield, CA. 93301, on the fourth floor, second window.
• Juvenile Justice Center: 2100 College Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93305, on the main floor.
• Family Justice Center, 2101 Oak St. Bakersfield, CA 93301.

Gatekeeper services are provided by Kern County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services.
